About Jim

“It was thanks to Jim's grandfather that his passion for horses began.”

Jim grew up in the town of Clonmel county Tipperary, Ireland. Jim’s Dad was not from a horsey background. When Jim and his siblings were very young their grandfather gratefully gave them first little pony, 11.1 called Chester, he was so hardy. Jim’s brother John a year and half older than him, and Jim both spend time riding this pony and later joined by their younger brother Eamon 4 years younger than Jim.

The family lived over their home bakery /shop then, they moved from the bakery /shop to a house in the country with had a few acres of land and they began their journey with pony club, hunting and eventing and eventually choosing showjumping.  Having no experience from their Mam and Dad’s side, Jim and his siblings knew very little, but their passion and hunger for the sport was really  strong.

Jim was lucky in the beginning, with  a 13.2 pony called Sparkie, he was a very good pony for that level. In the local gym kana’s all be it at a small level Jim was very confident he could jump a double clear every time. Jim remembers having the confidence before each round that he could jump clear

In fact, he actually expected it because he was confident with the pony.  Jim felt the same with hunter trialing he was confident he almost always went clear

John his oldest brother’s  a 14.2 pony called Batty….all bought by chance by their Dad. John and pony Batty  weren’t that consistent and would have fences down and would stop cross country.  Jim at that stage ,without realising it confidence was up .

“Now, it is thanks to the horses Jim's passion for helping others succeed has developed.”

Although Jim grew up in the family business he went into business but the calling for horses was always there and he was always connected and got into coaching by being coached himself from a business point of view… his own coach said to Jim  …. everything he was learning  he was passing on the friends and family and his passion to help people was infectious and Jim wanted to pass it on so he became as a Coach himself.  As he qualified he was deeply drawn to the horse and was deeply immersed with riders throughout the globe, it was his natural path even though he has coached people in other areas of life,  this a niche that has grown quietly and organically behind the scenes.

Jim doesn’t look for any accolades as he likes quietly being a part of their huge success as the mindset is everything with the right animal of course as he learned through his own journey.
